The consortium of 5 partners, each expert in their own domain, disposes of all expertise required to develop in a multi-disciplinary approach an effective plastic waste collecting system of which the efficiency can be measured and proofed with undisputable data.

IMDC, the project coordinator in the DeMARC project, is an international engineering and consultancy company located in Antwerp in the field of natural waters. It has extensive experience in coordinating European research projects, long tradition in numerical modelling of inland waters, estuaries and shelf seas, and in CFD modelling for hydraulic, dredging and offshore applications.

Within Fraunhofer, Europe´s largest application-oriented research organization, Fraunhofer Institute for Ceramic Technologies and Systems (IKTS) is concerned with the development of materials, technologies, and components in the field of advanced ceramics. Since 2014, they have been working in the field of microplastics regarding their weathering, transport and fate.
